Samsung Galaxy Designer hits back at Apple’s copycat allegations

Published

Samsung-Galaxy-Note

Samsung’s lead mobile designer, Lee Minhyouk who is also the Vice President of Design from Samsung Mobile has spoken out about Apple’s allegations that Samsung had copied its designs from the iPhone and iPad. He goes to admit that he has nothing on Apple’s Jonathan Ive but defended his own original designs which include the Samsung Galaxy NOTE and S2.

He claims to have made thousands of sketches and hundreds of prototype products for the Galaxy range and he shoots the question, “Does that mean I was putting on a mock show for so long, pretending to be designing?” to the Chicago Tribune. He goes on to say that as a designer, his dignity has taken a hit because The Galaxy range has been original from the beginning and that he was the one who made them. With reference to Apple’s iPhone, he said that it was a totally different product with a different design language along with a different technology that was infused.

Apple of course disagrees as you can judge from the multiple court proceedings occurring worldwide regarding hardware patents. As he stated that he was not at Ive’s level yet he proceeded to defend his company and say that he does believe that Samsung will produce iconic products one day. Lee goes on and says that it’s not just the effort that makes new products a massive hit but also the timing and the technology must be ideal to make certain designs a reality. He ends by stating that he is confident that Samsung will make a product that will define our time and he adds that he hopes that it is one of his.

iPad Air 3 Not Coming This Year According To Rumors

Published

on

apple-logo2It looks like the folks over at Digitimes have come up with their own interpretation of things to come – that there will be no iPad Air 3 released, at least for this year. Digitimes has had their fair share of hits and misses in the past, so it would be best to take this rumor concerning the non-release of the iPad Air 3 in 2015 with a pinch of salt.

Digitimes also laid claim that the iPad mini 4 will not be as supercharged as some of the rumors that had been going around, as it will bring with it only small and incremental upgrades when compared to its predecessor, the iPad mini 3. This does not seem to bode well for fans of the compact tablet, taking into consideration how the iPad mini 3 itself was improved over its predecessor with a new Touch ID fingerprint reader.

Since Apple tends to roll out a new iPad in October, we will just have to sit tight and see whether this particular rumor has enough “legs” to run.
