Does Apple Want To Be Its Own Carrier?
How would you feel if Apple had their own carrier network? Instead of having to cater two different sets of iPhones to two or more different carriers, why not do it all in-house instead? Well if you’re for Apple having their own network, perhaps the notion isn’t so far fetched after all. A patent filed in 2006 that was recently extended describes Apple’s plans to set themselves up as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) but with a little change.
Typically MVNO’s lease mobile network capacity from just one carrier, but in Apple’s case it seems that they plan to make contracts with all the carriers. The idea behind it is if carrier A had some spare capacity in an area, while carrier B was full, carrier A could offer discounted rates to lease the spare capacity they have to Apple, making some money and not letting that spare capacity go to waste. So basically wherever you go, you would be able to get the best service and at the best rates. Perhaps this could work on a international basis, reducing the rates or even the need for roaming services.
While carriers have always been supportive of carrying Apple’s products due to high demand, if Apple were to come up with their own carrier services those carriers would probably not look on too kindly to the added competition. However if and when such a service does come to fruition, do you think Apple would open up their services only to their iOS devices or will they welcome Android and WP7 devices with open arms?

First of all, there was a leaked internal memo from Vodafone alongside Japanese site ITHome and German tech experts Macerkopf claiming that the new iPhones 6S models will roll out this coming September 18th in their respective countries
With Japan, Germany and the UK being tier one Apple launch countries, this means that those living in the mentioned countries will receive the iPhones at the same time as folks living over in the US – traditionally speaking, of course. There really isn’t that much time left to wait, as it is less than a month away, and I am quite sure that the time will pass by sooner than you think.
It looks like the folks over at Digitimes have come up with their own interpretation of things to come – that there will be no iPad Air 3 released, at least for this year. Digitimes has had their fair share of hits and misses in the past, so it would be best to take this rumor concerning the non-release of the iPad Air 3 in 2015 with a pinch of salt.
Digitimes also laid claim that the iPad mini 4 will not be as supercharged as some of the rumors that had been going around, as it will bring with it only small and incremental upgrades when compared to its predecessor, the iPad mini 3. This does not seem to bode well for fans of the compact tablet, taking into consideration how the iPad mini 3 itself was improved over its predecessor with a new Touch ID fingerprint reader.
Since Apple tends to roll out a new iPad in October, we will just have to sit tight and see whether this particular rumor has enough “legs” to run.
