Pictures of the iPhone with a magnetometer menu have surfaced online, confirming that there will most likely be sure a feature in a future version of the iPhone’s firmware or even a future hardware revision. Of course, there isn’t any official confirmation on such a feature yet, but it’s hard to ignore these things when screenshots appear, don’t you think?

It looks like we’ll definitely be seeing some age restriction settings for the apps in Apple’s App Store. Pictured of some age restriction settings have appeared, giving credibility to the story. There isn’t any mention of who will actually be the one to determine the rating of an app, Apple or the developer? Hopefully with this in place, getting your apps listed on Apple’s App Store will be much easier and quicker.

A report online indicates that breaking into the top 100 list for the App Store is certainly rewarding. It seems that top apps on the App Store make somewhere around $400 to $5,000 per day on ads. With those interesting figures, it certainly isn’t surprising to see that many people are developing apps for the iPhone instead of other platforms.

You might have used Verizon’s account management application for the BlackBerry a while ago, but it looks like the AT&T has (rightfully) turned its attentions to the iPhone users and is offering the “myWireless Mobile” app for the iPhone, allowing users to check usage, modify account settings and even pay their bills directly on the iPhone. Not only is it a handy app to have, it’s also free, which is a bonus.

Will Apple start allowing more applications with questionable content on the App Store in the future? We all know that Apple will be expanding its parental controls with the iPhone OS 3.0. It seems that some folks who have had apps rejected in the past have been notified that they may resubmit their apps in the future, possibly hinting that Apple might be loosening their approval process for apps after the introduction of the iPhone OS 3.0.

Reports have surfaced that Apple has come up with a new policy that allows iPhone owners to replace their water-damaged iPhones for a free. Instead of getting a new iPhone at full price, you’ll be able to pick up a refurbished iPhone for $199, assuming that your device failed due to an out-of-warranty encounter with water.

Epson must be purring at the prospect of getting some profit out of the whole iPhone deal. Thanks to EuroSmartz, Ltd, the company has come up with a Print & Share app, which allows photos, business documents, PDF files, web pages, e-mail and more are able to be printed to Epson printers via your iPhone. The unfortunate thing is that it doesn’t allow wireless printing just yet, so you’ll need to tether your Apple device via USB connection, or print over a network. The Print & Share app is currently available on the App Store for $6.99. You can read the full press release here.

By now we all know that the iPhone can do a million different things, but what about controlling a radio-controlled airplane or helicopter? Well, thanks to the app FliPhone, you can do that via the touchscreen and built-in accelerometer. Of course, it might not be as accurate as using the actual remote control meant for the toy, but it certainly is going to make you look a cool (and a whole lot geekier) than your friends who don’t already own an iPhone.

Knocking Apple’s iPhone off its comfortable perch at the very top isn’t an easy feat, so hats off to RIM who’s BlackBerry Curve has managed to demote the iPhone to second spot in terms of consumer smartphone market share. RIM’s smartphone market share increased by 15%, bringing the total to nearly 50% of the smartphone market, which is certainly more enjoyable, especially since Apple and Palm saw their market share decline by about 10%. Will the upcoming release of the Palm Pre and (rumored) new iPhone help those companies make up for lost ground to RIM?

Well, according to the various reports, someone familiar with Apple’s plans state that it’s simple to record and editing stunningly sharp video with the device, after which you’ll be able to wirelessly send it to friend or watch it on the phone’s improved screen. Might this “improved screen” be an 800 x 480 iPhone display that we’ve been dreaming about? We certainly hope this turns into a reality come June. Fingers crossed.
