iOS 5 leaked on video might be iOS 4 instead

Published

on

iOS 4A new video has recently surfaced on the internet, claiming to be showing a prototype white iPhone 5, running an internal build of iOS 5 that is rumored to be released later this year. But is it really what the leakers have claimed it is? Upon face value, it looks pretty much like iOS 4, except when it comes to task switching.

In the video, when the tester runs multiple apps and then launches the task switcher, we get a totally new screen instead of the row of icons that we have at the bottom of the phone we’re so used to seeing in iOS 4. The apps appear on screen just like what multiple tabs open in Safari would look like when on the tab selection screen.

Well, the folks over at The Next Web performed a detailed analysis on the videos, and they believe that it is an early internal build of iOS 4.0 running on a prototype 64GB white iPhone 4. They scrutinized every single detail of the video and noticed a few glaring pointers. Firstly, the phone’s version in the settings screen definitely has a 4 for the first digit – which should be 5 if it was iOS 5. Secondly, some apps such as the calculator sport similar icons to iOS 3.0 instead of the newer iOS 4.0 icons. The option to access Developer and Carrier settings from the Settings build also definitely point towards the OS being an internal build.

Well it’s impossible to tell for sure if it’s an authentic video without getting your hands on the phone itself, but they’ve made their case pretty clear. If you haven’t seen the videos in question you can watch them here. Let us know what you think about the “iOS 5” leaks.

iPad Air 3 Not Coming This Year According To Rumors

Published

on

apple-logo2It looks like the folks over at Digitimes have come up with their own interpretation of things to come – that there will be no iPad Air 3 released, at least for this year. Digitimes has had their fair share of hits and misses in the past, so it would be best to take this rumor concerning the non-release of the iPad Air 3 in 2015 with a pinch of salt.

Digitimes also laid claim that the iPad mini 4 will not be as supercharged as some of the rumors that had been going around, as it will bring with it only small and incremental upgrades when compared to its predecessor, the iPad mini 3. This does not seem to bode well for fans of the compact tablet, taking into consideration how the iPad mini 3 itself was improved over its predecessor with a new Touch ID fingerprint reader.

Since Apple tends to roll out a new iPad in October, we will just have to sit tight and see whether this particular rumor has enough “legs” to run.
