Sprint’s Smear Campaign of T-Mobile

Published

on

With AT&T and T-Mobile’s deal in review and with a 50-50 chance of going through it’s hard to blame Sprint for being upset about it. If AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile were to go through that could very well spell the end of Sprint, basically forcing them out of the picture. So it’s really no surprise that Sprint has resorted to a smear campaign by attempting to lure away T-Mobile customers by offering to pay contract termination fees of up to $175 per line if they decide to switch to Sprint.

The tag-line of the advertisement reads “Do you have the feeling the AT&T/T-Mobile won’t end with a ‘Happily Ever After?'” In an effort to further sweeten the deal, in case the $175 wasn’t enough, and also alleviate any worries for potential T-Mobile defectors, Sprint will also waive subscribers’ ETF fees if AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile is unsuccessful and they decide to go back T-Mobile.

I wonder how will AT&T and T-Mobile respond to this ad? While this is not directly targeted at AT&T, should the deal go through and Sprint is successful with this smear campaign it could end up having a huge impact on AT&T as well.
