With Nokia’s Ovi Store about to be launched, it looks like Nokia is going to make an effort to take down Apple’s App Store. While Google’s Android Market had 50 selections when it was launched, Nokia says the Ovi Store will have over 20,000 items ready for download, which is a good start, especially since Apple has about 40,000 apps in the App Store. The questions that people are asking is that whether said “items” include ringtones and songs. Obviously that number includes custom apps and WidSets, possibly even N-Gage games. After all, it’s about quality, not so much quantity.

At a glance it might seem that Nokia USA understood the anguish of its fans when the N97 was priced at $700 (pre-order price). After all, what would you be thinking if there was a promotional code that lowered the device’s price to $454.35, and even had a BH-703 Bluetooth headset thrown in for good measure? It seems that such a pricing was an error of sorts, as the device was going for $524.25 a little earlier to that, and now it’s back to $629.10 for just the phone on its own. Somehow the deal doesn’t seem so compelling anymore, right?

Is this a picture of a real upcoming Nokia touchscreen phone, or just a clever clone from China? While we can’t confirm whether it’s the real deal or not, we would folks to exercise caution when purchasing such items. The device, dubbed the 5900, might have a capacitive touchscreen, 3.5-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with on-board 3.5mm headphone jack and a kickstand. The only piece of bad news regarding this is the lack of 3G.

Those of you looking to pick up Nokia’s E75 will welcome the news that the phone is now available at Nokia’s flagship store in Chicago and New York. Color options of the E75 include black, red and gold. The black version will set you back a cool $529.99. In case you’ve forgotten, the Nokia E75 features:

The FCC has approved of the Nokia 6750 Mural, and the device will be available in the US via AT&T. The 6750 is actually fairly similar to the Nokia 6650 which was released back in November of 2008, albeit with a classy glossy finish, and external music keys. The camera is a 2-megapixel variant, which is certainly nothing to shout about. Aside from that, the device also sports Bluetooth and a microSD memory card slot. There isn’t any word on whether the Nokia 6750 Mural will be running Symbian S40 or Symbian S60, so stay tuned and we’ll update you as the news comes out.

If you’re looking for a new E series smartphone from Nokia, you’ll certainly want to check out the newly-announced Nokia E52, which is fairly similar to the E55, aside from the lack of a QWERTY keyboard. Armed with a standard numeric keypad, the E52 features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity, GPS navigation, 3.2-megapixel camera, Ovi service support, noise cancellation and a new email user interface. The phone is also rated to offer 8 hours of talk time, though it will be interesting to see how long the phone lasts in a real-world scenario. The Nokia E52 will be available in silver or brown colors in the second half of 2009. Expect to pay €245 for this classy phone.

Nokia fans who are looking for a Feature Pack 2 version of Nokia’s E71 will certainly be glad to hear that Nokia is preparing to release a version of the phone, likely the E71i, that not only has Feature Pack 2, but also a 5 megapixel camera with new color options. So in case you were thinking of snagging the E71x for a penny over at Amazon, you just might want to hold out for this.

At a glance, you might think that it’s the Nokia E71x, but upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that Nokia Europe is actually offering the E71x’s younger sibling, the E63, in black. A color change isn’t a big thing, but it might be important to executives who might (wrongly) think that blue or red aren’t good corporate colors. There isn’t any information on where or when you will be able to pick up this new color option, but keep your eyes peeled for it.

We reported on AT&T offering Nokia’s E71x going for $99 via AT&T’s store, after a mail-in rebate. Looking at the latest offering from Amazon, you might want to avoid AT&T’s store for the moment. We say that as Amazon is offering the device for just $0.01 (essentially free), if you’re willing to extend your contract for 2 whole years. Time to head over to Amazon?

Want a Vertu Ferrari phone, but can’t afford one? Well, you can always search the Internet for the Vertu Ferrari clone which has been making its rounds. The device has a slightly different design from the real deal, and has an integrated media player, built-in FM radio, Bluetooth and microSD memory card slot. Of course, don’t expect to buy a dozen of these and become rich by selling them off as the real deal.

It’s certainly taken a while, but your patience has finally paid off, as AT&T is now offering the highly-anticipated Nokia E71x. GPS, Wi-Fi and a 3.2-megapixel camera are just a few of the features that this Symbian S60 device offers. The device will set you back $99.99 after a mail-in rebate. Looks like it’s time to finally get that new phone that you’ve been putting off for so long, huh?
