Home > nokia > Symbian Belle to get pull/drop down notifications system?

Pull/drop down notifications seem to be the rage nowadays, with Android first leading the way, then with Apple following suit with iOS 5, and if these leaked screenshots are to be believed, it looks like Nokia has plans for a similar notification system with the upcoming Symbian Belle update for their Symbian^3 devices.

Not just for notifications, Nokia calls it the “pull down status bar” which will include other features like quick switching and activities that could show a download bar if the user is downloading something from the internet. It looks like Nokia is upping the stakes by following the footsteps of successful platforms such as Android and iOS.

It seems odd that they are choosing only now to do it, after they have announced that they will eventually phase out Symbian in favor of Windows Phone 7. Either way, it’s good news for Symbian fans and loyalists, and perhaps it might persuade new users to hop on board the Symbian train.
