LG Neon Now Available on AT&T for $30

Officially announced in March, the LG Neon QWERTY side slider with touchscreen phone is now available from AT&T for a mere $29.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and 2-year contract. The entry level messaging phone boasts GPRS/GSM/EDGE connection, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 2.4-inch display, 2-megapixel camera, 14MB memory expandable up to 4GB via microSD, MusicID and MEdiaNet services all packed into a 4 × 2 × 0.66-inch body weighing 3.81 ounces. Pretty appealing to text-messagers for its price if lime green is their color.

If you’re looking for the LG Renoir but don’t want to pay the full price for the device, you could always settle for a cheaper but similar looking mobile phone. The device is dubbed the LC KP5000, which is certainly a direct copy/paste job from the folks who were designing the boxes. The LC KP5000 will sport a 3-inch {QVGA display, dual-SIM support, 1.3 megapixel camera. If you travel a lot, you’ll be more or less covered in terms of coverage. If you decide to go for this device, it will set you back $110.

An XML file that some folks picked up from the LG site seems to indicate that the LG GT500 (or ‘Puccini’) will be hitting Rogers over in Canada. Aside from Rogers, T-Mobile subscribers might also be also be lucky enough to pick up the device from said carrier. Specifications of the LG GT500 include:

LG GD900 Crystal Goes To UK

If you previously caught sight of the LG GF900 Crystal back at MWC 2009, you’ll probably have been captivated by its transparent keyboard, which certainly makes the phone have a luxurious and classy look. Folks over in the UK should be able to pick up the device in mid-May, as Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that they will be releasing the device on said date. The GD900 will sport LG’s S-Class Touch UI, 8-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, TV-out and Dolby Mobile audio technology. On top of that, the display and transparent sliding keypad should support multi-touch input and handwriting recognition.

LG has always been one of the manufacturers who emphasize fashion on their mobile phones, and now their latest Ambassador of Style is going to strengthen those beliefs. The company has enlisted Heidi Klum for said post, and will be offering 5 back plates designed by her for the LG Rumor2. LG has also created a print advertising campaign that depicts Klum painted in butterflies, similar to one of her back plate designs, which is certainly going to capture the attention of the men, at the very least.

Folks who own a LG Versa and are already bored with the QWERTY module might want to get some gaming done, and that’s where the new snap-on game pad will come in handy. Sliding along the back of the phone body, it features an 8-way directional pad, 4 dedicated gaming buttons, and will only set you back $29.99. Expensive? Not really, especially if it will save you the cost of buying another gaming device.

According to reports, the LG Shine, which is currently still available for $9.99 on contract, might be pulled off shelves from May, while the LG Vu might also see the same fate at in August. The good news is that it seems that LG Shine 2 and LG Vu 2 might be launched sometime in Q3 of 2009. There aren’t many details regarding the Shire 2 just yet, but the Vu 2 is rumored to have a rather pretty 3D touchscreen, which probably means that it’ll run the S-Class Touch UI that is being used by the LG Arena.

Very little technical details (if any) of the LG enV3 VX9200 have been revealed, but now that pictures that show the back of the phone have made its way to the Internet, we can see that the device will sport a 3-megapixel camera along with “intelligent shot”. There isn’t any mention as to whether this “intelligent shot” means some form of image stabilization or face recognition, so we’ll have to wait to find out what it’s all about. At least the 3.2-megapixel camera is an upgrade from the original 2-megapixel on the enV2.

LG Mobile Phones has come up with an interesting competition in partnership with crowdSPRING and Autodesk. U.S. residents above 18 will have the chance to design the next revolutionary LG phone and challenge for more than $80,000 in rewards. It’s similar to the previous year’s competition, so if you’re familiar with it, it will most likely pique your interest. Designers who participate will even receive a free 15-day trial of SketchBook Pro digital sketchpad software. So if you’re a designer, what are you waiting for? The contest ends June 7th 2009, and maybe we’ll be reporting on a mobile phone designed by you. Who knows, right?

LG Electronics Reports Sales Increase

LG Electronics seems to be doing rather well amidst the global economic turmoil, as it has announced its earnings for the first quarter of 2009. The company’s handset department reported a 23% increase in sales, going from KRW 3.2 trillion ($2.3b) to KRW 3.9 trillion ($2.8b). Sales increased despite a 7% year-over-year decline in handset shipments. LG will certainly be happy over the success of its Cookie, LG-KS360 and Viewty smartphones, which definitely had a part to plan in ensuring it’s good financial reports.

LG Viewty Smart Is Official

After a false start, it looks like LG has finally gotten it down pat and officially announced the Viewty Smart (LG-GC900). In case you missed all the hype over the phone, it sports an 8-megapixel camera that has sensitivity up to ISO 1600, LED flash, multi-face detection. It also has LG’s new 3D S-Class UI, which debuted in LG’s Arena earlier this year. A WVGA 3-inch touchscreen display, HSDPA, A-GPS, 1.5GB internal memory and microSD card expansion top off the list, just to make sure that you’re drooling.

It looks like we’re one step closer to getting the LG Secret, as the device has been spotted at the FCC. The LG CF750, as it’s called, will most likely be headed to AT&T’s network, especially since the FCC pictures have the device covered with AT&T branding. In case you forgot, the phone will feature popular features such as Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card expansion, a 5-megapixel camera and much more.
