If you’re looking forward to possibly seeing NFC enabled phones from HTC, Sharp or ZTE, your wish may come true. Those three handset manufacturers, among a list of other companies, have joined the NFC Forum, which is a non-profit industry association that hopes to one day make NFC a standard of mobile payment systems.
At the moment there are handset manufacturers who include NFC in some of their phones, which could lead to issues arising in the future where some phones are compatible with mobile payment systems while others are not. A prime example in this case would be the Google Wallet, which at the moment seems to work only with Sprint’s Samsung Nexus S 4G handset.
