Samsung unveils new Exynos 5250 processors

Published

on

Curious as to what could be powering Samsung’s tablets next year? Well the company has recently unveiled their all-new SoC (System on a Chip), the Exynos 5250 which is currently being clocked at 2GHz and is a Cortex-A15 dual-core processor. It was built using a lower 32nm process which means that it will consume less power (better battery life) and provides better processing power. It will also be able to support display resolutions up to 2560×1600.

Given how ASUS, Lenovo, HTC and Acer all have plans for quad-core tablets, we have to wonder why Samsung has decided to use their Exynos 5250 dual-core chips for their products. However since there aren’t any comparison tests available at the moment, perhaps there’s a good chance Samsung’s Exynos offering will be able to stand up against NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

These new Exynos chips are expected to begin mass production next year, so if you’re looking forward to any new Samsung tablet running on this new processor, there’s a good chance that they will be available come Q2 of 2012.

Published

galaxy-a9-fccSo, there is a new Samsung smartphone that is about to be released – big surprise, that, and I say this with full a sarcasm. Still, those who want something that looks to hang out on the high end side of things in terms of design and form factor, and yet having a mid-range performer within, can always settle for the Samsung Galaxy A9.

The handset has already appeared on the FCC database, which means it has been approved, and listed as the Samsung Galaxy A9. With the green light given, it is but a matter of time before it hits the market. While very little detail has been released so far, it should not be too long now before an official announcement is made. All that one can do now is to sit tight and wait. [FCC Page]

Measurements of the Galaxy A9 include 161.9mm x 81.3mm x 7.34mm, where it would be slightly taller than the Galaxy Note5, while sporting a metal and glass design, a fingerprint reader that should be able to handle mobile payments, a Full HD Super AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 620 chipset, among others.

Well, the Galaxy S7 has been said to target an early 2016 release, and some photos of the alleged device has already been snapped, although one should take into consideration that the original Weibo post is no longer there.

Of course, do take this particular leak with a pinch of salt, since it could be one of the numerous smartphones from various manufacturers that could roll out a similar looking handset. In the leaked photos, you can see a wrap-around metal border design, which seems to be the in thing at least for the next couple of years. All that we can do now is to sit tight and wait for the real deal to surface.
