Infrared 10 Times Faster

Japanese companies Omron and ITEX have developed an application for Symbian OS which boosts infrared transfer speeds up to 10 times higher than its current speed. Jointly developed by ITX-EG, NTT DoCoMo Inc., Sharp Corp. and Waseda, IrSimple has been adopted as a global standard by IrDA (Infrared Data Association), an organization that designs and sets standards for infrared communications. IrSimple is expected to open new avenues for users who will be able to transmit photos or other data with a simple “point and shoot” action.

Nokia 808 PureView gets May Release Date

After the Nokia 808 Pureview in all its MegaPixel goodness got an award last week, the company has just announced that it will be hitting stores sometime this May. Seeing as we’re already in the second day of the month, we’ll just have to wait until a more precise release date comes up for the Symbian-Belle powered device with its massive 41MP camera. From the announcement, the first countries that will receive the device will be Russia and India with additional countries coming in a later announcement.

Microsoft Office Released For Symbian Belle Devices

As far as everyone could have seen Nokia and Microsoft have focused their partnership into ensuring that Nokia’s Windows Phone range of products are the best that they could possibly be. Apparently things have been happening in the works and both companies have remembered the Symbian Belle range of products which only came out recently. Microsoft has released its Office applications to Nokia’s previous operating system of choice. The Microsoft Office apps that were included for the mobile devices were Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nokia PureView 808 Pre-Orders in Europe Begin, Shipping Expected in May

The Nokia PureView that was shown off by Nokia in MWC this year is much like any other smartphone nowadays except for two things. The first is that it is running on Nokia’s Symbian OS. The second is what users will want this device for; a whopping 41MP camera. Besides that, the phone will have a 1.3 GHz single-core chip, a 4-inch display with a 360×640 (nHD) resolution, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of storage space which can be expanded with a microSD and a Pentaband modem.
