Motorola Karma QA1 On Sale Today

Motorola Karma QA1 On Sale Today

The Motorola Karma QA1, announced about a week ago, will be hitting the shelves today. The entry-level full QWERTY slider with easy access to Twitter, MySpace and Facebook via large icons on the homescreen, is aimed at teenagers and young adults. The 3.5×2.5-inch phone has a glass faceplate instead of plastic, giving it a solid feel but it still remains light at 5 ounces. The keyboard is large enough for comfortable thumb typing, with the phone's numeric keypad towards the left side. To complement its social networking friendly appeal, it also comes with A-GPS - probably to help locate buddies in the real world - apart from a whole range of multimedia features. The Karma will be available from AT&T for $80 after a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract.

Motorola Posts $291 Million Loss In Q1

Motorola Posts $291 Million Loss In Q1

It certainly seems like a long time since any sort of good news has come from Motorola, and it looks like we’re going to have to wait a while longer before we have any hope of hearing something happy from them. The company has just revealed that it missed its projected sales figure of $5.62 billion, posting $5.4 billion, $1.8 billion of which were in its handset division. Sales of cell phones were down 45%, and Motorola is looking at a $291 million loss ($0.13 per share), which certainly can’t be good news.

Android-powered Motorola Ironman

Android-powered Motorola Ironman

A picture of what is supposedly an upcoming Android-powered Motorola device has surfaced, and the smartphone that is pictured here will either be officially called, or bears the codename “Ironman”. We’re actually more inclined that think that it’s a codename, as it’s rather hard to imagine Motorola marketing an Ironman, but you never know, right? The device will supposedly be released by the end of Q3 and will sport features such as Wi-Fi, 3G, high-res camera etc. Definitely something to keep an eye out for, right?

Verizon Motorola Calgary Sports Android

Verizon Motorola Calgary Sports Android

Did you ever stop to wonder which manufacturer would be the first to have an Android-powered device on Verizon Wireless? It might be a little surprising, but Motorola might just be the first, with its Android-powered Motorola Calgary phone. The device supposedly will sport a QWERTY keyboard and will have a focus on social networking. Motorola was rumored to be bringing its first Android-powered device to the market by the end of Q2 2009, but there isn’t any confirmation whether the Calgary will fall within that timescale.

Motorola W7 Going To China

Different people have different taste, that’s for sure, but it will certainly be interesting to see if anybody will actually think that the (unannounced) Motorola W7 is attractive. The device has just received China’s telecom certification, which is similar to getting the FCC’s approval. The device will reportedly sport a 2.2-inch QVGA display, secondary video camera for video calls, microSD card expansion, and FM radio and will support China’s 3G network. The device should be available in May 2009.

Motorola Aura Beckham Advert

Motorola certainly hasn’t been doing too well of late, but hardships or not, it looks like it’s still determined to make sure that its marketing department is up to scratch. The latest ad for its Motorola AURA sees David Beckham feature in a terminator-esque advertisement. Whatever the advert, would you be willing to pay $2,000 for a Motorola phone?
