HP killed off webOS and the TouchPad, or so it seems. While the future of webOS remains uncertain at this point, HP’s new CEO, Meg Whitman has confirmed that the company will continue making tablets for the consumer market, and their platform of choice? Why, none other than Microsoft’s Windows 8 platform.

No word on when this Windows 8 tablet from HP will be making an appearance, but given that Windows 8 will only see an official launch next year, the earliest we can expect to see a HP tablet running on Windows 8 will be in 2012. According to Meg Whitman, more of HP’s plans will be revealed in the upcoming months.
