Sony Ericsson Brings Back The Walkman Phone

Published

on

Sony Ericsson’s W-series Walkman phones used to be popular back in the day when feature phones were still popular and desired by many, nowadays the smartphone has taken over and along with the smartphone came music players, providing pretty much almost the same features as the Walkman series and more, thereby rendering the Walkman phones somewhat redundant.

However by the looks of it, Sony Ericsson still thinks there is a demand for feature phones, more specifically, feature phones with the Walkman function built into them. Introducing the Mix Walkman that comes with a “Zappin” key that allows users to preview the chorus of the next song in their playlist, which lets them decide if that’s a song they want to be listening to next. A karaoke mode is also present which will lower the volume of the vocal track in the song allowing you to sing over the song without the original vocals getting in the way. Great for all those American Idol audition preparations!

Specs wise there’s nothing to shout about with the device featuring a 3-inch, 400 x 240 pixel capacitive touchscreen display. It also sports a 3.2MP camera and supports microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. Sony Ericsson claims that users will be able to get up to 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time or over 19 days of standby with the included battery. The company also says that users should see 13 hours of music listening or four hours of video watching on a full charge, which is pretty decent. Downside to all of this is that there is no 3G support on the device.

The hardware cover of the phone is also interchangeable and come in the colors of pink cloud, pink, green bird, and green. No exact release date or price yet but Sony Ericsson has said that the device will be available in Q3 this year.

LG Works On Nuclun 2 Chipset

Published

on

LG-logoLG has been rather quiet about developing its very own mobile chipset design for some time already, where the first Nuclun SoC will soon be followed up by – surprise, surprise, the Nuclun 2. This is not the first time that the Nuclun 2 name was brought up, and up till now, there has been no devices that were released with Nuclun 2 at its heart, although that might change with the upcoming V10 successor if rumors prove to be correct.

In other words, the LG V10’s successor will most probably be released some time in the second half of the coming year, which means it will be some time before it ends up as a shipping product. It also remains to be seen whether the Nuclun 3 will hit the streets in the near future, but as with most other cases, patience is definitely called for.

Published

on

galaxy-a9-fccSo, there is a new Samsung smartphone that is about to be released – big surprise, that, and I say this with full a sarcasm. Still, those who want something that looks to hang out on the high end side of things in terms of design and form factor, and yet having a mid-range performer within, can always settle for the Samsung Galaxy A9.

The handset has already appeared on the FCC database, which means it has been approved, and listed as the Samsung Galaxy A9. With the green light given, it is but a matter of time before it hits the market. While very little detail has been released so far, it should not be too long now before an official announcement is made. All that one can do now is to sit tight and wait. [FCC Page]

Published

on

What is the world’s best kept secret? I suppose that would be a subjective question, with a myriad of answers for your picking if you were to take into consideration the different industries and niches, but where smartphones are concerned, especially with the HTC banner involved, then it would be the HTC One X9 being the next handset from the company. A set of photos of the alleged device has surfaced, and in these photos, it has more or less confirmed the overall design of the device – including its SIM card slot, power and volume button locations.

Other rumored hardware specifications include a 5.5” Full HD display, a MediaTek MT6795 SoC, either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 3,000mAh battery, a 13MP shooter at the back with OIS, and an UltraPixel front camera. All that we have to do now is to sit tight and wait for an official announcement concerning the hardware, and it is good to go.
