Amazon is expected to add 3 three tablets to its repertoire this year. The online retailer has laid out production plans for the tablets according to CENS. The best of the 3 devices will be a high-end model with a 1920 x 1200 resolution 8.9” display. The other two tablets will cover the low-end and mid-to-high end ranges. Both the tablets will rock a 7” screen but one will have a resolution of 1024 x 600 while the other will have a 1280 x 800.

In a bid to follow a successful Kindle Fire launch last November, Amazon has split the tablets’ production between several companies to achieve better profit margins than what was obtained with the Kindle Fire which sold 5 million units since its culmination. According to IHS iSuppli, Amazon was responsible for more than 14% of the tablet market by the end of Q4 2011, losing out only to Apple in market share.
