Nokia To Announce “Market Disrupting Device” On June 21st

We all know that Nokia will soon start producing Windows Phone 7 devices, according to their partnership with Microsft. Loyal fans of Symbian and MeeGo are definitely disappointed to hear that but loyal Nokia fans in general should otherwise be glad to know that the Finnish company has a new strategy that they’re hoping to take them back to the former glory days when they were the kings of the market.

Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop has also mentioned that despite the new adoption of Windows Phone 7 as a platform for their devices, they will be releasing one final device that would be powered by MeeGo, which some are calling the N9, the successor to the high end smartphone Nokia released earlier, the N8. Chances of the N9 that would be the “market disrupting device” as dubbed by Australian news publication iTWire seem rather likely as the N9 had already made its way to the FCC last month and it looks like they have requested that it remain confidential until the 24th of June, making it likely that on the 21st of June we will be seeing the N9 live and in action.

We’re not sure why the device would be dubbed as market disrupting considering all the hype about Android and iOS (and even Windows Phone 7 to an extent) but perhaps it could be due to a tweet by Eldar Murtazin who said that Nokia will be producing only 92,000 copies of the device which mean that this device could be a device for collectors, and maybe that’s what the market disruption is about (?). Either way June 21st is only a week away, I guess we will find out then.
