IE9 Code Is Complete For Windows Phone 7

While not mentioned as part of the 500 new features that would be appearing as part of Windows Phone 7’s Mango update it wouldn’t surprise us if Internet Explorer 9’s completion will be part of the list.

It seems that Joe Marini, Principal Program Manager for IE on Windows Phone, told TechRadar last week that IE9 for Windows Phone is already “code complete; we are now debugging, we are performance tuning. Graphics performance is a big focus for us right now. That, rendering compatibility, markup compatibility – any rendering issues are really getting looked at closely right now.”

Among some of improvements that will be featured in IE9 would be hardware accelerated browsing (including video, audio, text, canvas, drawing and general rendering), along with CSS3 and GPS-based geolocation. Flash at the moment is still unavailable for Windows Phone 7 devices although Adobe has said that they are still working on it.
