Zynga Wants To Monetize Draw Something with Ads You Draw

Published

In what seems to be a new way of advertising, Zynga wants to advertise what is allegedly its latest acquisition OMGPOP’s Draw Something application with advertisements that the players will draw out as opposed to having them just show up in banners. From various reports online, it seems that the first patron that will make use of the new advertising method is the National Hockey League. Included in some of the 3 options that players are given, words that are hockey-related such as hat trick, slap shot and Zamboni have now been added to the application.

The VP of Zynga said in an interview, “People loved to draw the Colonel (KFC) and bags of Doritos.” Although he might seem to think that the advertising methodology is feasible based on just that fact, many of them might not be so quick to agree. What do you think? With the figures of Draw Something’s daily users plummeting recently, would it be a reasonable way to get more people to sign up for the allegedly popular application.
