Android’s long embattled issue with fragmentation is being fought day in and day out by carriers and manufacturers alike. This has led to various devices getting the latest OS by Google at different times. In addition to that, when carriers are thrown into the mix, it makes the process that much more complicating and time-consuming. That said however, it looks like manufacturers are taking things one phone at a time and that seems to be effective for now. The latest news which appeared on the ‘Talk Sony Mobile’ forums indicated that the Sony Xperia S firmware upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is just around the corner.

A person who claims to be a member of the support team said, “Xperia S is planned to get ICS somewhere around late May/early June. That’s what’s been said and that’s still what we’re sticking to.” Due to the fact that we’re currently in the middle of May it looks like you have only about two to four weeks to wait. That is of course if the statement is credible. With this news of the impending upgrade, it should allow users of the Xperia S to fight through the next few weeks with a smile on their faces. The “support staff” with the handle Markus also claims, “the roll out is, as always, gradual and will not happen overnight for all phones. Some phones might get the update in late May whilst other (sic) will get in I (sic) mid June etc. Have you been waiting for this news?
