For those who have been engulfed in the hot news that Spotify claims to have 3 million paying customers now, brace yourself because its rival application, Pandora has just become the second most downloaded application in Apple’s App Store. Joe Kennedy, Chief Executive of the company said in a keynote address during CTIA Wireless that the Pandora music service application has passed 150 million users. He also claims that the tallies related to registered and active users have seen an increasing spike by 50% since the starting of 2012. On top of that, Kennedy states that the main reason for the figures reaching new highs is because of mobile usage.

He explained that 70% of the music streamed from Pandora was on mobile devices. For more eye-opening facts and statistics that were divulged during the keynote address, an estimated 52 million users are currently active and in just last month alone, a reported 1.06 billion hours of music was streamed. From a year-to-year basis, this is an increase of 87% from April 2011. Although Spotify has seen some success over the past few months, Pandora believes that this is just the beginning for the company as it is currently in the works of trying to integrate the music streaming service into cars from several different automobile manufacturers.
