Nokia Will Not be Making its Lumia Phones Waterproof Anytime Soon

There were a few rumors around the internet sourced from UK stating that Nokia has plans to apply a superhydrophobic coating to a few next-gen Lumia or PureView smartphones. With that said however, a report from TheVerge after the folks talked to Nokia seems that this will not be coming to fruition anytime soon. While the company presentation featuring Conor Pierce who is Nokia’s VP for Western Europe does include talk about the superhydrophobic coating, it was mixed-up with the fact that Pierce also introduced the budget Lumia 610 to all that were present at the event in question.

Nokia clarified what Pierce said, “He did not say that Superhydrophobic coatings would be coming to future PureView and Lumia devices.” While it might be a bit disheartening, it seems that Nokia has no intentions of introducing the coating to phones anytime soon but who really knows? It seems that the company is not planning to unleash a whole new range of waterproof Lumia’s on the world – just yet at least.
