Microsoft Reminds Users to Update their Devices to Windows Phone 7.5

For some time now, Microsoft has been urging its users to get their OS on Windows Phone devices up to version 7.5. The reason for this is because Microsoft is apparently in the works of implementing some changes to its App Marketplace and one of the alleged changes will include the pre-requisite that only mobile devices running Windows Phone 7.5 will be able to complete downloads from it.

The change will apparently apply to both the phone and web storefronts. Microsoft have explained in its blog that the key takeaway of the reminder is that if you like apps and games, you will soon need Windows Phone 7.5 installed to continue using the Marketplace. For the details involved in why Microsoft is making the alleged larger Marketplace improvement effort, the explanation is detailed here. For those of you who haven’t updated your device just yet, you can find a checklist along with step-by-step instructions that can help with the installation on Microsoft’s Update Central.
