There are further rumors that suggest Apple will in fact be launching a smaller version of its crazy-successful iPad tablet. The latest one reveals that the smaller iPad will be getting an October launch and will retail for either $200 or $250. Prior to this revelation, many rumors about the internet suggested that Apple had a 7.85-inch iPad in the works. The rumor contains other information such as the new ‘mini’ iPad will look just like the new iPad except that it will be scaled down proportionately.

It will also apparently feature a display resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels which is what is available on the manufacturer’s popular new iPad. If the rumors are to be believed, the more affordable tablet could pose a serious threat to other tablet manufacturers who seem to only be keeping afloat in the tablet market because of their own versions of low-cost tablets. As far as the ‘roughly 10-inch category’ of tablets is concerned however, the iPad is definitely the dominant one hands down. For companies such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble the threat is even more serious due to the fact that in addition to their e-readers, they also offer low-cost tablets.
