Foursquare for BlackBerry Gets Update with NFC Support

Published

on

The popular location-based social networking application Foursquare has rolled out an update for BlackBerry devices which among other things, gives users the addition of near-field-communication (NFC) support. This would allow the BlackBerry application to access information using NFC tags or stickers. Of course as always, this update brings along a fix for a few bugs that were noticed along with an enhancement for the performance as well as the UI.

One added feature is that the app will now show its notifications for your device alongside your other notifications like SMSs and emails at the top of your screen. The company also improved the speed of the application itself and also enhanced the speed at which GPS can be used. The major thing as mentioned above with the update is the inclusion of NFC support and this opens up a new avenue of NFC related tasks where check-ins can be accomplished simply by tapping your device on NFC tags or stickers wherever they are available.
