For quite some time now, we’ve been hearing about the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 ‘coming soon’. Now apparently, a tweet from Michael Clewly who is the PlayBook Product Manager indicates that we will probably see the BB PlayBook OS 2.1 Beta by the end of the month. With today being the second last day of the month, it seems that we can expect it at its latest; tomorrow. From what we know, we can expect the following from the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1. For Business users, we can expect to see portrait email, contacts and calendar along with an App World carrier shell.

In addition to that, just for business users, we will be able to see bridge texting and Wi-Fi transport support. Secondly, for developers, android multi-tasking, camera API and in-app payments are said to feature in it as well. Finally, for IT administrators, there will be an over-the-air activation over Mobile Fusion as well as personal encryption. The OS will apparently roll out in similar fashion as how the OS 2 one came. Users will basically have to register your PlayBook’s PIN after which you will be able to see the update available or otherwise while ‘checking for new updates’ from your PlayBook.
