The long awaited software update for T-Mobile’s G2x has finally been announced much to the happiness of users. Recently, talk of the update was sent out via LG’s website after which it was retracted. Awhile after that it was again added and for the second time, it got retracted. After the tug-of-war with no one in particular, the carrier and LG have begun rolling out the Over-The-Air (OTA) update to the T-Mobile G2x. The update is labeled P999-V21y. If you haven’t already received your notification, be patient because the carrier plans on releasing the update through the 14th of May.

If you cannot wait however, you can hit up the instructions on T-Mobile’s support forums to begin the update immediately. Before further ado, it would be nice if the update contained the jump to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but sadly, it doesn’t. Nevertheless, an update is an update and always exciting news for users of the device in question. The update contains Android version 2.3 also called software version P999-V21y, 30.5MB large and fixes the random reboot/power off glitch, improved device stability, Wi-Fi calling improvements and finally, the update fixes the boot-up issues.
