The Sony Xperia Sola, known for its ‘floating touch technology’ has just shown itself off at the FCC. The unit that is pictured above came with AT&T specific 3G (850 and 1900MHz) which means that it could be for release by the carrier in the US or for any of the three major mobile carriers in Canada, Rogers, Bell and Telus.

The Sony Xperia’s floating touch allows users to hover their fingers above the screen without touching it but a selection will be made based on where your finger is. The innovative smartphone comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread which will probably the upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich soon, a 3.7-inch Reality Display that has 854 x 480 pixels of resolution, NFC, WiFi capability, GPS, xLoud, 3D surround sound, 512MB of RAM, a dual-core 1GHz ST-Ericsson U8500 processor, 8GB of internal storage and a 5MP rear-snapper capable of 720p video recording.
