Skype for Android Gets Update

Published

on

The popular Voice-over-Internet- Protocol (VoIP) and Instant Messaging (IM) application, Skype for Android devices received a software update over the weekend. The latest update which is now live on the Google Play Store brings the Skype version up to 2.8.0.9320 and the developers have added a number of changes, performance enhancements and bug-fixes this time around. The update brings a new and updated instant messaging interface, video orientation support to more Android devices and the very important shorter startup time. One of the changes that were not mentioned in the changelog was small changes to the UI which give the application a more streamlined look and a placement change of the ‘Menu’ button which used to be at the bottom of the app is now at the top. Although Skype is a product from Microsoft, it seems that the company has not left its Google-Android users in the lurch and this update improves it greatly.
