According to a leaked Nvidia roadmap that was found in China by a techblog, the Tegra 4 chip will come out in Q1 of 2013. According to online reports, the processor will be a quad-core ARM Cortex A15 chip which is said to be faster than the Qualcomm designed Krait core that sits cozily inside its S4 processors. To what degree is it faster is still unknown but the roadmap also provides a bit of information regarding three other processors, all of which will be released in Q3 of next year.

From the leaked roadmap pictured above, you can see that the first one is the Tegra 4, and the one next to that is a ramped up version of that same chip which will use smaller transistors allegedly. The 3rd one is a slower version of the initial Tegra 4 and a more powerful and updated version of the Tegra 3, both of which have been slated for “mainstream” devices. While this is just what is being worked on now, roadmaps can change so nothing is set in stone yet. As for Qualcomm, who knows what is being schemed up at their labs right now as you are reading this.
