Nokia urged to target Symbian and BlackBerry Users

The mobile market is ready for a wedge to be driven between Google and Apple or in simpler terms, a third player in the smartphone industry. According to online reports by analyst Sarah Roman Epps, Palm is dead, Symbian is sunsetting and RIM is faltering, Windows Phone, led by Nokia can take on all three users provided they overcome two challenges. Reportedly, the first challenge is to get carriers behind them like they have at T-Mobile. Given the amount of promotions revolving around the launch of the Lumia 900, it is a sure thing that for now, Windows Phones will outsell HTCs and Samsungs from T-Mobile.

The second challenge which the author reports must be overcome by Nokia is targeting the right audience which she feels both, Nokia and Microsoft have not been doing. According to her, the market is ripe for the entry since RIM has acknowledged that it will not be having any next-generation products anytime soon and BlackBerry users already have data. She also iterates that BlackBerry users have opted consciously or unconsciously to not buy into Google or Apple and the Windows Phone would be a very suitable avenue for them not to mention the Symbian users who are not entirely sure about where to go and would like it if their favorite brand of mobile came up with something worth buying into.
