Nokia Lumia 610 NFC Officially Being Launched on Orange UK in Q3

Following an earlier leak about the NFC variant of Nokia’s Lumia 610, the Finnish mobile giant has gone ahead and made the device official. The handset will first launch in the UK through Orange in Q3 of this year. This seems to be a long time since the Lumia 610 was unveiled back in February. One possible reason as to why it took so long is because Microsoft does not have NFC support on the device itself so Nokia had to take its time and add the new features along with other additions to make the phone’s standout feature a little more special.

The device is said to have MasterCard PayPass support and will also work with Visa’s point-of-sale (POS) payment solution called payWave. Nokia has apparently built its software on top of Microsoft’s Windows platform on the Lumia 610. For now there are no details about the Nokia NFC capable device making it to the shores of the US and there is still no official word about pricing.
