Intel Medfield Lava Xolo X900 Gets Benchmarked

Intel’s first jump into the smartphone CPU fray seems to have turned out a lot better than expected as it challenged Nvidia and Qualcomm’s leading positions in the processor industry. The expectations were not very high for the Intel Medfield powered Xolo X900 smartphone. The device which was just launched in India recently went through a benchmark test by the guys over at Anandtech after they managed to get their hands on one of them before it is set to be released. Although the device is running only a single-core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor, the figures suggest that it would be a competitor worth noticing for dual-core devices like even HTC’s latest One X.

The tests that were performed by Anandtech ranged from benchmarks measuring browsing performance, low level FP performance and flash rendering speed, to GPU performance and battery life. For most of the tests, the X900 was beaten by the HTC One S and One X which are currently the two most powerful smartphones. From the reports online, it apparently was able to stand its ground against devices like the Samsung Galaxy S2, the LG Optimus 3D and the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx which all feature dual-core chips. However, in one particular evaluation which tests JavaScript’s performance which is pictured above, the Xolo X900 excelled and was ahead of the One X. The smartphone is still only available in India, but are you hoping to see it hit the States soon?
