The famous photo-sharing app has become the topic of very mixed emotions over the past week. The first thing which set of many iOS Instagram users was that the app was released for Android devices. This triggered a massive outcry from many iOS users who deemed that their sacred ground was being trampled on by people who allegedly come from the trailer park side of town. The second incident was the massive news about Instagram being bought over by Facebook for a cool $1 billion in cash and Facebook shares.

Whatever the emotional backlash might have been, it seems that both Facebook and Instagram know what they are doing since the app has just reached the top spot in the App Store for Top Free application for the first time. Weirdly, the Facebook owned photo-sharing application decided to use Twitter to announce the news. What it comes down to is that both Facebook and Instagram know that their products have quality which will keep users coming back and also new users coming in and as far as their business-related decisions it seems to have reflected in the right way given their new chart topping status.
