ICQ Set for Comeback Tour with Mobile App Update and New iPad Version

More than ten years ago, many computer users were avid users of the instant messaging app called ICQ. Whenever that unique sounding notification alert would go off, we would run to our computers and hurriedly reply back in a weird mix of uppercase and lowercase letters where they are aBsOlUteLy not needed. Now, however it seems that ICQ is fighting to be relevant again by updating its mobile apps for Android, iOS as well as its new Windows Phone one. The app which already had integration with platforms such as Facebook, AIM and GTalk will now bring with it, photo and location sharing as well.

On top of that, the app developers have added a better offline function that will allow users to read or compose messages without a connection. With an extra push from what seems to be another climber in the post-SMS world, ICQ has also launched a new iPad version of the app but whether it is optimized for the high-resolution new iPad is still unknown. If you can remember your number, would you go back to using ICQ? I still remember a few friends who actually downloaded that notification tone for their SMS alerts on their mobile phones.
