Huawei Working on Windows Phone 8 Smartphone and Windows 8 Tablet [Rumor]

One company that is yet to join the Windows Phone fray is Chinese company Huawei but if rumors from WPDang are to be believed, that is about to change. He said that Huawei has assembled a group of engineers 70 people strong to work on two devices that will feature the upcoming Windows 8 OS. One of the devices which is a phone will be making use of components found in the company’s Android smartphones while the other is apparently a tablet which is 4G LTE enabled. The phone in question is set to run Windows Phone 8 Apollo and will allegedly cost $315 while the rumored tablet will run Windows 8 with no additional details about its potential pricing.

The question that has been raised here is how Huawei’s entrance into the Windows Phone market will affect the Nokia Lumia’s sales. Huawei is not for using above-average specifications and charging bottom dollar for them. Since all Windows Phones run the same software on what is basically the  same Qualcomm processor, the only reason for someone to opt for a Nokia Windows Phone would be if the design was much better and that remains to be seen since Huawei’s option has not even been announced yet. As for the tablet, nothing much is known about it yet except for the fact that it will be running Windows 8. If the manufacturer chooses to manufacture a x86 machine it will be up against companies like Lenovo and HP but on the other hand, if it goes with an ARM based chip it might find itself up against the giant of the lot, the iPad from Apple.
