Yesterday, Google rolled out a new update for its social networking site’s Android application. With the update, the app now allows hashtag support while on the go. Since the culmination of Twitter, the hashtag as become the new standard and after Instagram, Google+ is the latest social networking site to adopt the process. Although this seems like a minor addition, what the hashtag does for Google+ is that it allows users to see the trending topics on the network and choose to participate or not.

Besides hashtag support, Google also improved sharing support for 3rd party applications in the latest update. Along with both those new features added in the update came the usual minor bug fixes. Google Plus, according to the latest tally is the fastest growing social networking site in the world but with only 100 million members as opposed to Facebook’s hefty 800 million for now it’s the rate at which it is growing that matters.
