A patent application that was filed by the online search giant Google brings about the speculation that either the next or an upcoming Nexus device will have a slide-out keyboard. The patent filing contained the name of Android chief Andy Rubin and reports suggest that the filing underwent the processes faster than the time it usually takes. For most patent filing processes, the time span required is roughly 18 months on average.

This one however, was filed in January and was published in April. From the patent application, a few highlights show that the new design brings along a significant amount of space for larger keys with the possibility of either a mouse or trackpad this might be built into the keyboard itself. Speculation aside, what do you think about the possibility of the next Nexus smartphone shipping with a built-in keyboard? The topic seems to be perfect for a healthy debate.
