Former Apple Engineer Claims Apple Considered Physical Keyboard for iPhone

Published

Tony Fadell who was an engineer at Apple at the time when the first iPhone was released has come out in an interview saying that the Cupertino tech giant had 3 potential designs proposed to them with regards to the iPhone one of which involved a physical keyboard. While he doesn’t provide a picture to substantiate his claims, one can imagine how the sleek iPhone would house a physical keyboard; whether it would be a slide-out feature or would it take up half the screen like it does on so many BlackBerry devices.

Of course another talking point would be if Apple would have reached the heights the iPhone now has if it had implemented the physical keyboards or would it not have changed anything at all given Apple’s strong marketing background. That said however, for now you can breathe a sigh of relief that your beloved iPhone has a full-touchscreen without a clunky keyboard in the way but Fadell’s statement does give us a few things to think about.
