Windows Phone Tango increased multitasking limit to 8

Our friends over at XDA-developers have discovered that the latest Windows Phone update would raise the app multitasking limit from 5 to 8. The move was supposedly due to the lower memory improvements in the operating system. While they had thought that the changes had been made in a previous update for the ‘Tango’, they were wrong as it will only come in the latest update. While this addition might not seem like much, it might be the differences between losing a background app you are looking to keep running or allowing the OS to shut it off.

Amongst the other improvements and fixes made with the latest software update are improvements for MMS, better SIM contact management and a new location alert icon. On top of that, they have allegedly included a memory counter in the phone info section of the Windows Phone. The latest Tango will be made public to existing devices when the new 256MB memory handsets are launched officially in China over the coming weeks. It is expected that Microsoft will unveil Windows Phone Tango in China tomorrow along with new devices later in the month.
