The new iPad under the microscope

If you interpreted the title as an in-depth review of the new iPad, you are mistaken and (although you can keep an eye out for our iPad review which will be up on Ubergizmo.com soon!)  I don’t think you will regret reading what we have to say here about the new iPad and it’s beautiful retina display. The changes made to the new iPad are the spanking A5X processor with its improved graphic capabilities, the greatly improved cameras and finally, the unblinkingly awesome Retina display.

A Swiss software engineer named Lukas Mathis decided to show exactly what difference have been made between the new iPad and its predecessor by placing both under a microscope and making the most minute differences glaringly obvious under 80x magnification.

Apple said that they quadrupled the pixel count; they did not lie. As you can see in the picture above, the amount of pixels in the same area (for both devices) differs greatly and if anyone needed more proof as to why the new iPad would be a wise decision, here it is in red, green and blue.

Apple uses the term ‘retina display’ to signify super high-resolution display and since it does not reflect on any industry standards, we can only hope for better in the future. Do let us know what you think about this comparison.
