There are some of us who believe that the definition of photography has been altered during the smartphone revolution. The only differing factor would be if a person likes that change or not. Very rarely nowadays do we hear the words “that is beautiful, I wish I had my camera with me now.” An app is currently in the making to celebrate that very fact.

The Revolution Mosaic app is a soon to be completed iPhone app which will bring together 360,000 photos to be stitched together to create one large mosaic which will in turn depict something else of deep meaning. How does the app work? When the app is released in May, it will display an empty white space and iPhone users have the responsibility of filling in the white space with photographs from your phone. Upon uploading your beautiful photo of choice, it will appear as a tiny dot in the white space.

As the amount of user added photos increase, the numbers of dots that will eventually form the completed image also increase. All you would have to do to enjoy the little details some of which you are proud to call your own is pinch to zoom. The final mosaic will be available to purchase through the app and the official website as a 48” x 72” poster.
