Opera Mini 7 lands for Android

Opera Mini 7 for Android is now available for download via Google Play. The mobile browser which featured in MWC has improved in terms of hardware acceleration and the feature touted as the highlight of the latest instalment is the Speed Dial landing page which goes beyond 9 websites. In terms of hardware acceleration, Opera has ported its WebGL hardware acceleration from Opera Mobile to the Android version; Opera Mini 7.

Phillip Gronvold, Opera’s product manager for mobile told our counterparts over at CNET before MWC that Opera Mini’s data-compressing Turbo makes the browser an important option for people on plans or with tight data-restrictions. He said that Turbo works differently on various versions of Opera, with Turbo willing to sacrifice Web stability for its enormous bandwidth savings; it is a good trade-off as it saves you up to 90% in less data.
