Nokia Chief Designer confirms Tablet development

Marko Ahtisaari, a design chief at Nokia has allegedly confirmed that Nokia are looking to enter the fray and pit their very own tablet presumably running Windows 8 against the other most established tablets. He said that they are currently working on a tablet which he apparently spends a third of his time on.

Rumours suggest that Nokia’s tablet powered with Windows 8 would launch sometime in the 4th quarter of 2012.The information came from unnamed sources that are described as upstream component suppliers who further mentioned that Nokia’s foray into the tablet world will further intensify the competition among non-iPad tablet vendors. Nokia also believes that people like to own adjacent devices of the same type for a synchronized and generally similar experience (e.g Macbook, iPad and iPhone) so to not venture into the tablet world would prove foolish.

What might make all this possible is the excellent relationship between Microsoft and Nokia which revolved around the Windows Phone which replaced the Symbian OS and other homegrown platforms. As far as we can make out, the rationalization to come out with a tablet seems to be accurate and as any true consumer of technology would know, when there’s more competition, the consumers end up the winners. Would you be one of those who would purchase a Windows 8 tablet? Do let us know why as well.
