Nextel launches Push-To-Talk Motorola i867 in Brazil

The Motorola i867, an Android powered smartphone with Push To Talk(PTT) for iDEN technology has been launched by Nextel in Brazil. Using Motorola’s iDEN technology, the smartphone offers PTT two-way radio, cellular service, mobile Web access, text and picture messaging in a single device. The handset will feature Android 2.1, integrated GPS capabilities, corporate connectivity and built in WiFi.

Other features that come with the device are a 3.1” touchscreen display, music player, Bluetooth stereo technology and a 3MP camera. Motorola have said that the device will gain a full range of download from the Google Play Store and customers will not be left out from relationship network services such as Google search, Gtalk, Google Maps and Navegador GPS. On top of that, the device will be available with Nextel Email client which enables users to connect up to 10 personal accounts and 1 business account.

To facilitate its use as a business oriented phone more than the Nextel email client, is a SWYPE keyboard for fast entries while on the go. According to Fernando Mode, marketing manager of Nextel, The i867 is yet another addition to the Nextel smartphone portfolio. The new handset is a versatile tool that meets the needs of today’s demanding, connected consumer who is not prepared to sacrifice design. It combines Android smartphone technology with Nextel’s suite of PTT services.” For now, its availability in the U.S is not mentioned so there is no idea of a pricing but if it is anything to go by, the i867 will go on sale at R$899 ($493.99) or R$499 ($274) on contract in Brazil.
