Microsoft moves swiftly to neutralize Smoked by Windows Phone controversy

on

As we reported earlier, Sahas Katta a Samsung Galaxy Nexus user pit his phone against a Windows Phone in the infamous ‘Smoked by Windows Phone’ competition and won albeit by luck. He was denied his win by the staff present at the Microsoft Store where he took part in the competition. The employees present claimed that he had to show the weather from two different states.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft has been the target of bashing since it happened for being sore losers and in a very effective act and apology, have offered a new laptop and Windows Phone to Sahas. Ben Rudolph, who has been the face of the contest since its premier, issued a second tweet to Sahas saying, “Hey @sahaskatta, @MicrosoftStore & I want to make things right. So I’ve got a laptop & phone (& apology) for you. Email me!”

While it is definitely refreshing to see Microsoft try and remedy the situation with a begrudging potential customer, questions about Microsoft’s competition fairness still remain. For his part, Rudolph responded quickly with an offer to rematch Katta 12 hours ago and 2 hours after that he said that he was trying to make things right as he didn’t really know what went down when Katta took part in the competition. Do let us know if you have experienced anything weird or not while participating in the ‘Smoked by Windows Phone’ competition
