Instagram accepting Android user’s registrations

Over the past weekend, popular camera app Instagram opened up a sign-up page for the very much anticipated Android Instagram application which according to one of the co-founders is an improvement in a few ways compared to Apple’s iOS version. For now, it is still unclear about the purpose of the sign-up page.

Since it is not stated on the website if you would get any ‘perks’ when you sign up, permit us to speculate some possibilities on your behalf. One possibility is that by signing up at the webpage, you might be given early entry into the app since users are encouraged to supply an e-mail address to be “first in line”. Another minor possibility is that Instagram might be a paid (just a speculation) app on Android and should you sign-up before the official release, perhaps it would give you a chance to obtain the app for free.

A while back Kevin Systrom, co-founder of Instagram was teasing the media by saying that that the Android app would be just weeks away. The famous camera based application saw a tall spike in users when the iPhone 4s was released and now has 27 million registered users. Who knows what the total number will be like once the Android app rolls out. But don’t fret, if you feel like you might miss out on the app, stay tuned to UberPhones and we will let you know when it gets out.
