The Xperia open source archive has rolled out from Sony today. The bundle provides all the necessary tools to manufacture a kernel and start building ROMs for the Xperia S. Sony Mobile’s developer blog received a post with stated that they were receiving the source code from Sony for the first time involving a product powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S3.

The message from Sony goes to advise the developers that in order to flash the software, there were a few extra steps and a special script, all of which were duly linked along with a proprietary firmware file. Taking the extra initiative, Sony also provided instructions for the building and last but not least, they invited the developers to approach them with any questions that might make stumble with regards to the source. To those of you that are interested to start developing ROMs, feel free to check out the open source at Sony Mobile developers blog.
