Amazon Kindle Fire gets pre-alpha Android 4.0 ROM

Amazon Kindle Fire owners will be pleased to hear that a pre-alpha build of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is currently in the works thanks to hardworking Android developers community. The Kindle Fire is a relatively cheap tablet coming in at only $199 which would make it a pretty decent and affordable tablet to mod for those who might have purchased the tablet for non-ebook purposes.

Like we mentioned earlier, this is a pretty early build that the developer has declined to even call it “alpha”, but for those curious enough, you can pop on over to the XDA forums for the download link, although its download was mainly for the purpose of gettng some feedback and help. Either way it’s probably not meant to be a daily driver, at least not until a more stable build has been released, so unless you know what you’re doing, you may want to stay clear, but know at least that an Android 4.0 port for your tablet is being worked on.
