Verizon to also crack down on illegal tethering

Earlier we wrote about how AT&T would be cracking down on users on unlimited data plans who were tethering their devices through unofficial means. As it turns out, Verizon decided that it was a great move and they will be following suit.

However, unlike AT&T, Verizon’s “punishment” will not be as severe as downgrading the user to a data cap plan, but instead will just block the hotspot device from transmitting the connection. I guess while not as harsh, it’s still somewhat bad news for Verizon users.

If you plan on tethering your device and don’t want to pay for tethering fees, perhaps AT&T and Verizon are not the carriers to go for, unless of course you think that you will be able to get away with it.
