Nokia to launch voice texting capabilities with WP7

As most of us are already familiar, iOS 5 is expected to bring new and improved voice recognition technology with the possible inclusion of Nuance and Siri. It seems that Nokia has something similar planned for their upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices. The reason behind this feature is to prevent users from texting while driving, which is a pretty difficult task to manage. At least with buttons you can more or less feel your way around the keyboard and keep your eyes on the road (still highly discouraged!), but with touchscreen phones it’s like you’re typing blind.

The voice recognition can also be used to perform certain actions, for example when you receive a text message you can verbally command the device to either read the message or to ignore it. While voice recognition is nothing new, more powerful features and recognition can turn it from novel feature to a must-have.
